De Rock Jungle Living Resort

We were apprehensive as most pictures do not match the real deal, however to our surprise the place was good. Staff is very nice, chef is awesome as everytime we ate the food quality was amazing, limited menu but enough for everyone to pick from. Place turns into heaven the moment clouds set in. It's fogged out with happy feeling. Infra definitely needs a little uplifting but no complains. In all a very satisfying 2 night stay.

It was set in the backdrop of hills. It was very serene and quiet place. Lot of greenery around. Big bougainvillea trees upfront. There was a big veranda with 2 cots and a dining table. Lot of place to walk around within the property. The people there were very helpful and courteous. The food was good, South Indian food was very tasty. The North Indian varieties were okay. Barbecue was very tasty. Limited options as it is catering only to the occupants, but they are very flexible. If you want a quiet holiday to chill, this is a very good place. Note: Masinagudi town has only one bar to buy Alcohol, i heard that was going to close soon. So stock up or be ready to travel to quench your thirst.

Dinner was really bad. All known usual items but horrible taste and high cost. 500+ tax per person. Breakfast was very good. Rest of the part of resort was good. Rooms were good. We had booked a bungalow for 9 people. Resort play area was spacious with 4 swings and a basketball court. This resort was too much on the inside and we had to park our cars in some place and they took us to the resort by jeep through small bumpy roads.resort arranged for a safari by jeep with too little spotting of animals. Similar to a drive via Bandipur-Masinagudi stretch. At the end of the jeep safari we stopped at a lake. It was serene and also had lot of tourists.

Loved this place. Especially loved that they are dog-friendly. De Rock is set in Mansinagudi on the other side of the jungle from Karnataka. Hence, keep in mind that if you are trying to get there, you must go through the forest before 6PM as they close the forest entry after that. The location is a little difficult to get to as it has a very steep and rocky path going down into the property. Only really adept SUVs and Jeeps can go into the property itself. However, they do have a parking area near the entrance where you can leave your vehicle safetly. They will put you and your luggage on their Jeep and take you into the property. The property itself comprises of the main part with the restaurant and the offices and staff quarters and the other part with the rooms. The rooms are fairly basic but clean and neat. The bathrooms could use some maintenance and upgrades. Each room is provided extra mattresses and blankets incase you get cold or have a few additional people in your group etc. The property has a lot of natural beauty and has plenty of spaces for you and your pet to run and play. You can carry some badminton racquets to enjoy a game. The food and beverages are simple and tasty but on the expensive side. I would recommend this place but suggest you carry some of your own water and food/snacks so that you don't spend too much.
